About:

Landon Grissett and his wife Janet met at UMHB in Belton and have lived in Temple since their marriage in 2016. They both now have two beautiful children, Emma and Greyson. Landon grew up in the church and joined his first worship team as a drummer when he was only 17yrs old. At age 18, Landon knew God was calling him to worship ministry despite having no solid experience in vocals or guitar. From there, he pursued a college degree in church music. Through his college career, God placed Landon in a variety of different churches to serve in a wide range of positions (from media, to choir, and even in leading worship). Landon continued this ministry following graduation. A few years later, Landon was serving as a full-time worship leader, and not able to financially provide for his family since the work he was doing was strictly a volunteer position. Close to 4 months in, Landon nearly gave up on his calling to ministry since he was unable to make financial ends meet. After just a couple months of volunteering in this role, the family stepped away from the church they were serving at since he could not provide for his family. For the next year they attended other churches to stay connected with other believers, while hoping a door would open to a full-time paid position where Landon could carry out the ministry of worship leader. Throughout that year, Landon continuously prayed asking God what his role in ministry was supposed to be. He felt hurt in his previous position, but knew something at that time was missing. Neither Landon nor Janet had committed as members to a specific church community, and both knew their spiritual gifts were not being put to use. Finally in 2019, Landon reached out to some of his college professors hoping they knew of a church looking for a worship leader. He was pointed in the direction of The Journey. The Grissett’s knew God was opening a door for them through this and joined the church in November 2019, never to look back.

Landon’s hope for The Journey:

His hope for the Journey is that the Church grows in discipleship and comes together as the body of Christ through Biblical and God Centered worship.

"And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.  And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him (Colossians 3:15-17, ESV)."
