Advent comes from the Latin adventus, meaning "arrival, approach." During this season leading up to Christmas, we reflect on the longing of God's people for the Messiah. Malachi is the last book in the Old Testament and the last revelation of God for over 500 years till Jesus Christ is born in Bethlehem.

God has shown His love to us through his continual loyalty to His covenant. Through Christ, He delivered on His promises. Now we’re expected to give our love and loyalty back to Him. Malachi shows us a glimpse of people who didn’t do so. We have a chance to be a different generation. We have a chance to make changes in our lives. If we truly appreciate Christ’s sacrifice, we will stop complaining about what we think God should be doing and start living for what He has already done.

The great day of the Lord is coming. Christ's 1st advent has already taken place and the church today is now waiting with eager expectation and longing for the 2nd advent of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
